How Is My Foster Pet Doing In Its New Home?
When you are a Guardian Pet Trust Foster, you take care of a dog or cat for a short time, just like you would if you worked for a rescue. You perform an overall assessment of the pet's behavior and health to determine if you think the pet needs the help of a veterinarian or trainer. You help the pet adjust to life without its owner by nurturing and loving the pet every day. Then, one day, you hear that someone wants to adopt the pet you've fallen in love with and it's time to say your goodbyes.

Guardian Pet Trust Fosters play the role of a Grandparent Guardian Angel. They pop in to visit their Foster a few times a year to check on the care the dog or cat is receiving in their new forever home. Is the Caretaker providing the products that were listed in the Pet Trust? Are the routines being followed? Is the pet receiving the services their owner wanted to continue?
By providing this oversight, you are making sure that your Foster pet is safe and well-cared for. And, you are continuing to give the pet your love! Your heart won't be broken by the adoption of your Foster. Instead, you stay in your Foster pet's life for the rest of its life. What joy that brings you both!
What You Can Expect As A Guardian Pet Trust Foster
Being a Foster for a Trust Fund Pet is a great opportunity to have a pet(s) that fits into your busy schedule, travels, and finances. It's a part-time endeavor filled with love, pride, and responsibility that all contribute to the happiness and well-being of a pet in need.
You are a very special person to want to become a Guardian Pet Trust Foster. You get joy from helping an animal in need and, if you are experienced, you fall in love but are able to give the pet up. It's a bittersweet moment for you. But now, becoming a Foster for a GPT Pet, you don't have to say Goodbye! You'll continue to be a part of your Foster pet's life for the rest of their life! This is a change in the Foster role you're going to love!
GUARDIAN PET TRUST FOSTERS ARE DIFFERENT
After you are accepted as a Guardian Pet Trust Foster, you might have a waiting period before you are assigned to a pet to Foster. But, once that happens, the pet will become part of your life and you will take care of it and then provide oversight of the Caretaker to help ensure your Foster pet is always cared for properly.
You will be part of the Care Team consisting of you, the Caretaker, Trustee, and hopefully, your pet's veterinarian. You will have to work together to reach decisions about Pet Care that are not outlined in the Trust document. You will also have to make three unannounced home visits to the Caretaker to offer support and make sure the guidelines of the Trust are being followed.
Being a Guardian Pet Trust Foster is an exciting and rewarding experience! You will help us to fine tune our Foster program through your experiences while loving and taking care of a dog or cat who needs you. So, go fetch the application and let's get started!
The Rewards Of Being A Guardian Pet Trust Foster
LOVE! You get unconditional love from your Guardian Pet Trust Foster Pet for the rest of the pet's life. You don't have to say Goodbye. You'll see your Foster pet live their life to the fullest because you will always be a part of it!
You can foster more than one pet. That's right! Sometimes, a pet owner wants their bonded pets to stay together. So, sometimes,you might have the opportunity to foster a pet family whose owner wants their bonded pets to stay together.
After your Guardian Pet Trust Foster Pet moves on, you are welcome to bring home another Foster pet. Just remember that you stay in your Foster pet's life and have to perform 3 home visits each calendar year. As long as you can fit it into your busy schedule, you can foster as many pets as your heart and home can hold! Foster pet. YOU DON'T SPEND ANY OF YOUR OWN MONEY! All pet care expenses are paid for out of the funds from the Pet Trust. As long as you follow the directions of the Trustee, you should not have any out-of-pocket expenses for your Guardian Pet Trust Foster Pets.
WE WILL PAY YOU A STIPEND! This isn't a job and shouldn't be considered one. Nor, can you create a business from it. But, you can collect a stipend for taking a Foster pet and then providing the oversight. Just submit your paperwork, as described in your "Policy Handbook" and we should be able to provide you with a stipend for each activity you perform. We do rely on donations to make this happen so please be sure to support Guardian Pet Trust's fundraising activities. And, make sure to report the money you receive to the IRS and include it as income for your taxes.

Choosing whether to Foster a pet is a big decision. With GPT, you stay in the pet's life and visit like you are their Grandparent. You bring your love, play a while, check to make sure that they are being treated well and the Trust is being followed, and then, you go back to your life.
That might include school, work, or traveling. There are many reasons why full-time pet care won't fit in with your life. Part time pet care, however, can! You have the unconditional love on a part-time basis but it fills that void that only a 4-legged fur baby can. And, Guardian Pet Trust Fosters can foster more than one pet! That's a lot of love!
For every pet that has a Pet Trust with a designated Foster and Caretaker:
• One less pet gets surrendered to the local shelter when their owner becomes sick, injured, or dies. That means there's one less space taken in the shelter. Often the Pet Trust Pet is older and sometimes ill, making them less adoptable. The empty shelter space can now be filled by a younger pet that is usually more adoptable.
• No pets will need to be euthanized
• Keeping the population down in the shelters decreases the spread of illness. It decreases the number of pets euthanized.
• Pet Trusts keep families together and rehome pets so they are able to live their familiar lifestyle.
The impact of being a Foster is widespread. Deciding to be a Foster sets a lot of events into motion. Fosters help protect the life of your Foster pet and save the lives of dogs and cats in your community

What You Need to Know to Become a Guardian Pet Trust Foster
The minimum age required to be a Guardian Pet Trust Foster is 18 years old
Your role is to provide a short-term, safe, and loving home. This helps the pet adjust to life without its pet parent. It also enables the Caretaker time to prepare their home according to the guidelines of the Pet Trust
To qualify to be a Foster, you have to agree to undergo background checks and be fingerprinted.
Pet-related references (veterinarian) will need to be provided. Then, you'll be invited to have an interview. (If no prior pet experience, other reference-based arrangements can be made)
You must be willing to sign a Guardian Pet Trust Foster's Agreement. Your consent to the terms of the Agreement is for your entire experience as a Guardian Pet Trust Foster
